First let's answer the question that mainly intrigues ladies: what is cellulite? It's a condition in which the skin has fat deposits, giving it a wavy appearance, resulting from an uneven distribution under the surface of the skin. It is also commonly known as "orange peel skin".
Cellulite is classified into four grades:
- Grade 1: no symptoms and only detected in microscopic examinations.
- Grade 2: the skin is paler and less elastic, visible on palpation.
- Grade 3: there are nodules and tenderness in the skin.
- Grade 4: sagging, fibrosis, large nodules, pain and wrinkled skin.
Although it can affect both genders, cellulite is very common in women and around 80 per cent have some degree of cellulite, partly due to their greater tendency to accumulate certain types of fat. It tends to be most evident on the buttocks and glutes and generally occurs after puberty, but can also be visible on the chest, lower abdomen and arms.
There are some factors that increase the propensity for the problem and that can be inherited, namely related to hormone production, constitutional type and even eating habits. There are other risk factors involved, such as
- Hormonal changes, in particular the hormonal imbalances frequent during puberty and the menopause and those that can result from the use of oral contraceptives;
- Dietary imbalances;
- High consumption of soft drinks rich in sugar (which favours fat accumulation) and sodium (which increases fluid retention);
- Sedentary lifestyle;
- Smoking;
- Stress;
- Wearing very tight clothes.
The main preventative measures for cellulite consist of a healthy diet and regular physical activity, measures that should be implemented from the earliest years of life, such as:
- Avoid consuming sugar, fat and salt;
- Follow a healthy diet rich in fruit, vegetables and fibre. Fruit and vegetables are also great foods for fighting cellulite, as they are rich in antioxidants, which help to detoxify the body and protect our cells;
- Drink plenty of water and eat foods with a high water content, such as cucumbers, radishes, aubergines, tomatoes and peppers, to improve blood circulation;
- Drink tea, particularly horsetail tea and green tea, for their properties and effects on improving blood circulation;
- Wear comfortable clothes and avoid clothes that hinder blood circulation and aggravate fluid retention;
- Practise physical exercise, such as walking, running, swimming, cycling and climbing stairs.

Practising strength exercises, such as barbells, machines and bodyweight exercises.

We advise professionals who intend to buy one of these devices to use a disposable to protect the rubber of the G5 accessory. The disposable that best protects the rubber is the manicure bowl, because cosmetics applied to the skin can be damaged if they come into direct contact with the rubber, which will have to be replaced in the short term.
