It provides a more hygienic service as the sandpaper is disposable for single use. You will notice that when you remove it from the box, it is half curved, so you need to fold it flat, before removing the film. When applying the sandpaper to the plastic backing, apply the film to the top of the sandpaper grain, so that when you press the sandpaper to the backing, it adheres to the backing to avoid hurting your skin.
